On June 29, 1440, on the plain of Anghiari in Tuscany, took place a massive battle (although the chroniclers of the period are disagreeing on the amount of blood that was shed). The battle saved Florence from the invasion of the people of Milan and, in essence, saved the entire Renaissance too, allowing all the citizens of Granducato di Toscana to draw a great sigh of relief.
Florence never forgot about Anghiari and, from that day on, granted them the use of the typical Florentine Lily (or Giglio fiorentino). This friendship lasted for centuries, and my ancestors decided to seal it with a fabric, known as Giglio.
To make it even more precious, they made it out of 100% linen. Even today we still knit it and compose it in the same identical way, with a height of 280 cm.
